Artie Niesen, who worked for both Mosrite and Rosac Amplifiers in the 1970s, started Front Porch Music on the front porch of his home in 1978. He eventually purchased three storefronts on 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield, where he operated Front Porch Music for almost fifty years. The store was a thriving retail center, but also served as a place for Artie to house his very large collection of vintage and rare musical instruments. The “Mosrite Museum” on the wall and the mind-boggling number of unusual and Bakersfield-made guitars strewn about the store were the stuff of legend.
This one is in great shape for a 60 year old guitar! Body shows some light surface marks and dings, and plenty of natural checking (see photos) giving this one lots of mojo/vibe. Neck shows a decent ding/finish chip in the clear coat behind the 1st-3rd fret (See photo for details), but it doesn't affect playability in any way and is otherwise in great shape. The headstock shows some very light surface marks but is overal very clean. Fretboard shows some very light wear but is overall in excellent condition. Frets show some very light wear but are overall in good condition with a good amount of life left. Hardware is in surprisingly good condition for its age and all working perfectly. Original electronics work great and original pickups sound fantastic. A stunning vintage Ventures mark 4 in great shape! Would be the perfect addition to a Mosrite collection. Introduced as a more affordable, stripped-down alternative to the flagship Mark I model, it retains the iconic "reverse-Stratocaster" styling and signature surf-rock punch that defined Mosrite during its peak production era. a full scale instrument but feels like a short scale due to the neck being set further into the body and the tailpiece further back resulting in a compact feel.
Scale Length: 24.75" scale with a zero fret and metal nut.
Neck: Ultra-thin, fast-playing bolt-on maple neck. It features a very narrow nut width (around 1.55 inches) and a 24.75-inch scale length
Pickups: Equipped with two powerful, proprietary Mosrite single-coil pickups. The Mark V versions feature smooth flat-top plastic covers with embossed "Mosrite of California" branding and no visible pole pieces.
Hardware: Outfitted with a proprietary Moseley vibrato tailpiece and a highly adjustable roller bridge designed to maintain stable intonation during heavy tremolo use. It typically came with stamped Kluson Deluxe tuners
