Description:
A rare 1983 JV serial, "Japan Vintage" made in Japan Squier 60s reissue Stratocaster. The JV serial Strats were the first instruments produced in Japan under the newly created Fender Japan line. Their serial numbers started with “JV”, an acronym that stood for Japanese Vintage, and arrived at Fender even a few months before the production of the American Vintage, surprising Dan Smith and his collaborators for their high build quality. Featuring a rare "California Blue" finish which has aged into a really unique/vibey greenish hue. Body shows some some various minor dings and surface marks but is otherwise in excellent condition. Neck and headstock are in excellent shape with no notable blemishes or damage. Fretboard remains in great shape with no damage or blemishses. Frets show only very minimal wear with no issues and plenty of life left in them. Hardware shows some age but is otherwise in great shape and all works perfectly. Electronics work great and pickups sound amazing! A fantastic JV that plays like a dream with a rare and unique finish.Includes Fender gigbag. From the web:
The 1983 Squier SST-50 Stratocaster is a legendary, highly collectible electric guitar manufactured during the golden era of Fender Japan. Produced at the renowned Fujigen factory, it features the highly coveted JV (Japanese Vintage) serial number prefix, making it famous among guitarists as a "Fender killer" due to build quality that often surpassed American Fenders of the same era.
The "SST" prefix stands for Squier Stratocaster. It was originally designated for the Japanese domestic market, though many have since been exported by collectors.
Equipped with original SQ-5 Hotrod single-coil pickups. These used premium Alnico magnets rather than cheaper ceramic bars, providing a very authentic vintage Fender chime.
Built with an alder body mated to an oval-type maple neck with a 7.25" vintage fretboard radius.
Full-size zinc tremolo block, vintage-style stamped steel saddles, and high-quality Japanese-made Gotoh tuners.
