Here for your consideration is a rare 1981 Yamaha Limited Edition "Deep Purple" SG2000 DP in very good condition! The 1981 Yamaha SG-2000 DP (Deep Purple) is a highly collectible, ultra-rare model released as a limited edition run of only 600 units to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the legendary flagship SG-2000 model.

Most other examples of this model we have seen have black pickup rings so this was either custom or had the rings changed. If changed it was very early on as they have aged/yellowed significantly and match the binding almost perfectly.

This one is overall in very good condition and plays incredibly well! Body shows some light surface marks and minor dings but is overall in great shape. The binding has slightly separated from the body in some spots due to the wood shrinking and expanding over time, but is overall structurally sound. see photos for details. Neck is in excellent condition with no notable damage or blemishes. Headstock is in great shape but shows a light amount of "finish clouding" that is typical of these models on the front side. Fretboard is in excellent shape and frets show only very minor wear with no issues and tons of life left. Hardware shows a fair amount of tarnishing and age, and the neck pickup ring shows a small crack (see photo), but overall all hardware is in good condition and is all working perfectly. Electronics work great and original humbuckers sound fantastic. Overall a rare and beautiful SG2000 that plays like a dream! Has been fully inspected and set up by our tech and ready for a new home. Includes original hard case.
