Maker: Gibson

Model: ES-335

Condition: very good

Description:

A bit of a rare bird here; while most 1979 Gibson ES-335's featured the block inlays, coil switches and hotter pickups this is a more classic spec'd version. As this came to us from a Japan collector this was most likely an export model made for Gibson's Japanese distributor and built more to classic specs. Features patent number pickups, dot neck and a stop tail bridge.

Although nearly 50 years old this one remains in very good overall condition. Body shows some light surface marks, dings, and scratches but is clean overall with no major damage. Neck shows a fair amount of light surface marks but is overall in great shape and truss rod works perfectly in both directions. The seam at the neck joint is pronounced from the wood shrinking and expanding over time, but is very solid. See photo for details. Headstock shows some very light surface marks and wear but is overall in great shape. Fretboard remains in excellent condition. Frets show a light amount of wear and are on the lower side (nearly fretless wonder style), but has no major divots, issues with buzzing or dead spots, and still have a decent amount of life left in them. Hardware is in excellent shape for its age showing only some light wear. The top left screw in the neck pickup ring was broken off inside the body and the top has been glued back on. Electronics work perfectly and features an original set of Patent no. Humbuckers that sound fantastic.
