Description:

Here's something you don't see very often; an ultra-rare 1978 Greco Mirage M-800 crafted in Japan's legendary Fujigen factory. Built as the Japanese domestic market counterpart to the international Ibanez IC-210 Iceman—famously played by Steve Miller—this model stands out with its radical body shape. It features premium mahogany construction and a highly unique triple-coil pickup system. Supposedly less than 200 were ever made, how many have actually survived - not very many it would seem.

Unfortunately the material they used to make the custom pickup rings on these had an off-gassing problem and over time they would disintegrate - almost any example you see has a replaced ring, as does this one. The off gassing also corrodes the copper pickup cover giving it the relic look it currently sports. One of the knobs is also missing it's rubber ring - apart from that this is in all original and fantastic condition. Body shows some very minor surface marks, minor dings, and a very small finish chip on the bottom edge near the strap button, but is otherwise very clean. Neck is very clean showing only some very light surface marks with no notable blemishes. Headstock shows some light surface marks but is overall very clean. Fretboard is in excellent condition with no notable blemishes. Frets show some light wear but have no issues with buzzing or dead spots. Hardware shows some age, and pitting, and the pickup cover shows some corrosion from the off-gassing mentioned previously. Overall all hardware is in excellent working condition. Electronics are all original and have been thoroughly tested, inspected, and cleaned. Original 3-coil pickup works perfectly and sounds amazing! Lots of versatility with the 4-way switching. An incredibly rare and awesome Greco that plays amazing. These don't show up often, especially in the US, and in this good of condition. Has been fully inspected and set up by our tech and ready for a new home. Includes original leather gig bag. See below for a full list of specs and info.

Connection: This model design is closely associated with Steve Miller who famously used the triple-coil Iceman variant in the 1970s.
Collectibility: Because they were only produced for the domestic Japanese market in limited numbers during the late 1970s, M-800 Mirage guitars are highly sought-after collector's items today.
