From Fender:

The Fender Japan ST62/ASH/MH is a rare, vintage-style reissue of the 1962 Stratocaster, notable for its distinctive wood choice and aesthetic appointments. While the standard ST62 usually features an alder or basswood body, this specific variant uses Ash (ASH) and includes a Matching Headstock (MH) and an HSS pickup arrangement.
  • Body Material: Solid Ash, which provides more note attack and a layered midrange detail compared to standard models.
  • Neck & Fretboard: Maple neck with a "Medium C" profile and a rosewood fretboard. Most 2012 versions feature a modern 9.5-inch radius and 22 frets.
  • Matching Headstock (MH): The headstock is finished in the same color as the body, a feature often reserved for Factory Special Run (FSR) or limited edition models.
  • Pickups:
    • Standard Configuration: Often found with a trio of ST-Single ceramic pickups or Alnico ST-Vintage single coils.
    • SSH Variant: Some rare versions feature an SSH (Humbucker/Single/Single) setup with a Dragster humbucker in the bridge for a "big and bold" tone that handles high gain well.
  • Hardware: Vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge and Kluson-style Gotoh tuners
