The Yamaha SB-7A 20th Anniversary model is an extremely rare, limited-edition electric bass guitar produced by Yamaha in Japan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic "Flying Samurai" series. While often associated with the late 1980s (around 1986–1988), Yamaha's official production serialization dates these limited anniversary builds precisely to 1986, marking two decades since the 1966 debut of the original surf-rock instruments designed with legend Takeshi Terauchi.

The "Blue Jeans" Connection: The original 1960s guitars were famously nicknamed the "Blue Jeans Custom" after Terauchi's instrumental surf band, Takeshi Terauchi & Blue Jeans. The 20th Anniversary reissue line paid direct homage to this heritage.

Scale Length: It features a medium 31.5-inch scale length, making it highly playable and unique compared to standard 34-inch long-scale basses

Build Construction: Features a premium, 90-degree dead quartersawn maple neck paired with a striking, aggressively contoured asymmetrical body shape.

Hardware: Outfitted with vintage-style hardware, including a chrome bridge cover and an integrated bridge mute system.

Finding an authentic SB-7A Anniversary bass is exceptionally difficult. They were manufactured primarily for the Japanese domestic market in highly restricted numbers, making them prized collector's items among vintage Japanese instrument enthusiasts.
