Description:

Skreddy Pedals™ Klipper: inspired by the amp that the good folks at Laney designed to emulate Tony Iommi's uniquely distorted sound that he had previously been getting by boosting his Laney Supergroup with a Range Master

It actually took me a while to figure out what Laney's unique tube clipper was doing and how it worked. But then I had an "ah-ha" moment once I figured out it was a voltage-starved, cold-clipping phase inverter. What it was doing was clipping the negative side of the waveform, passing the signal along inverted, and then clipping the negative side again, this time clipping what was previously the positive side of the waveform. So I designed a circuit to do that using 2 negative feedback transistor clipping stages using tube-amp power rectifier diodes as the clippers and adding a little series resistance to soften the clipping, to make it more "tube" like and less "silicon" like. So I made it work and tuned every part to optimize that big amp sound while still keeping to Tony's treble-boosted character too.

Anyhow, it sounds so cool I ended up jamming with it for a long time. I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!

*Note: we have no affiliation with Laney, who of course own their trademarked names.

Toothy, grindy, huge, amp-like fuzz!

Has that peculiar, "dangerous" sort of sound, reminiscent of Paranoid and Master of Reality Sabbath records.

Laney Klipp amps actually have an amazingly beautiful clean tone (I mean, when the Klipp circuit is not engaged of course), but they are not widely known for this. Part of Iommi's tone, a HUGE part of it, is the fantastic sound of a cranked Laney. This won't sound like a cranked Laney, because only a cranked Laney will do that. But this does sound like a very nice Sabbathy fuzz nevertheless and should get along fabulously with your amp. If you like to play like Iommi, you will definitely get lost in this pedal.
