Maker: Mad Professor
Model: Ruby Red Booster
"The Mad Professor Ruby Red Booster is a great little guitar booster pedal that has more control than your average boost pedal. The pedal has a pretty standard make up as far as general characteristics go, with 1/4" connections for input and output and requiring power from a 9 - 18 volt power supply. However, the internal characteristics are anything but standard as it's got two booster in one here and also has a switchable buffer on the inside for helping not to lose signal when using it with other pedals. It has true bypass and isn't rack mountable...
You don't need to know much in order to use the Mad Professor Ruby Red Booster as it's a really simple one to get used to. The parameters that it gives you to work with are for boost, treble, and master. Each is kind of it's own little effect in itself, as turning each up will have a pretty drastic effect. A manual shouldn't be necessary here - just mess around with it until you feel comfortable.
The tone of the Mad Professor Ruby Red Booster is absolutely perfect. It's super smooth and there's a lot that can be done with it considering it's 'just' a booster pedal. You can use it as more of a full bodied boost, a treble boost, or even for some straight up overdrive. If you were using a tube amp and a great guitar, you could probably get away with just using this pedal and have a nice array of different sounds here. The main thing to consider here is the flexibility, as you aren't going to find these kinds of options on many other booster pedals.
If you're looking for the ultimate guitar boosting pedal, you need to take a serious look at the Mad Professor Ruby Red Booster. It's a booster by trade but has the flexibility to be an overdrive or simple treble booster as well. It's definitely not the cheapest booster out there, but it's also not incredibly expensive considering the incredible tone quality here. If I was buying a booster pedal and money was no object, I'd definitely be going with the Ruby Red Booster.

You can use Ruby Red Booster as a treble booster, a clean boost or an overdrive unit or any combination of the above. Also, it can be used with or without the buffer.
The Treble Booster is a fine-tuned booster for just the right treble frequency with carefully designed bandwidth and an optimized slope of bass cut. The booster circuit is designed to overdrive the amplifier inputs from nice shimmer to heavy overdrive, thanks to the massive 40dB of boost. The booster is tuned so that it produces musical distortion by itself on higher boost settings.
You can control the total level of the two boosters with the Master Volume control and also use the Master Volume to achieve distortion from the unit.
We truly think Ruby Red Booster is the best sounding and most versatile booster for electric guitar on the market!
MASTER: This is a volume control that is located directly after the booster circuit and when set to max it is just a resistor to ground. This control sets the final output and it can be used to control the output when the pedal is used for overdrive (Boost turned up).
TREBLE: Set treble boost from zero to about 15dB. The treble frequency and bandwidth are carefully tuned with an optimized bass slope. BOOST: The gain of the booster and can be set from unity to about 40dB of boost. When this control is cranked the unit will distort within itself.
BUFFER: Inside the pedal, there is a switch for a high-quality buffer. You can set the pedal for true bypass mode or “buffer on” in bypass mode. We recommend using a buffer in your signal chain to help with the treble and gain loss from using many pedals and/or long cables. Pedals are shipped “buffer on”.The Mad Professor RRB Buffer is an amplifier with a voltage gain of exactly 1x (times). The RRB buffer output impedance is set a little lower than the Dc resistance of a standard guitar pickup to equalize the effect of following load impedance. Input impedance is set at 500K for a medium load to standard guitar pickups. This keeps the tone and guitar volume taper natural.
TREBLE BOOST: Set Boost to minimum and Master to maximum and adjust for a desired treble boost with the Treble knob.
STRAIGHT BOOST: Set Treble to minimum and Master to maximum and adjust Boost to the desired effect.
BOOST: The gain of the booster and can be set from unity to about 40dB of boost. When this control is cranked the unit will distort within itself.
DISTORTION: Set Boost to maximum and adjust output level with Master to unity, then adjust Boost for desired depth and overdrive. Treble can be used to enhance distortion effect.
CAUTION ! Never operate the unit with its bottom removed or damage will most likely occur.
