Condition: very good
Description:
A vintage 198? made in Japan Yamaha SG2000 in all original condition. While the lower 800 & 1000 models of the SG were set neck construction like a Les Paul the 2000's were a neck through body construction. The SG2000 was made famous by Carlos Santana's endorsement and design advice. Features a slightly thicker body (compared to a Les Paul) as requested by Santana to increase sustain, ebony fretboard with beautiful split trapezoid inlays, along with a brass mounting plate below the bridge for added sustain. These were top shelf builds quite ahead of the era.
This one is in great shape for being 40+ years old. The body is overall very clean with only minor surface marks and some very minor dings. Neck and headstock are in excellent condition with no notable issues or blemishes with the exception of some very light surface scratches on the front of the headstock. Ebony fretboard is in excellent condition. Frets are very clean with minimal wear. Hardware shows some age and there is a few small issues to call out - The plastic ring that surrounds the pickups is missing from the bridge, Neck pickup ring has a small crack on the top (see photo), and the top of the neck volume and bridge tone control is missing. Besides those small issues all hardware is in great working order. Electronics work great and the vintage output style humbuckers sound fantastic. Overall a very clean example of a vintage beauty. Plays incredibly well, has been fully inspected and setup here by our team at Coast Sonic and is ready for a new home. Includes original Yamaha hard case.
